I have an Asus A7v133 motherboard and basically my problem is this: Prime95 will fail with a rounding error whenever a sound card is plugged into my board's PCI slot. I have two A7v133s and this happens on both of them. Furthermore it happens no matter what sound card I use (Sound Blaster Live! or Aureal Vortex2 SQ2500), no matter what PCI slot I put the card in, and no matter what speed I set my processor to run at.

If I set my processor to run at stock speed or below, it will still fail with a rounding error. However, if I just pull the sound card out, it will run Prime95 stable forever (unless I clock it up too high, but that is a different story entirely).

Has anyone else suffered from this problem and does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? Also, do you think this is just a problem with Prime95, or do you think my system is just totally unstable whenever I have a Sound Card plugged in to it (I kind of doubt/hope that is not the case). What else is a good stability test besides Prime95?

That is truly weird.

I spent a lot of time playing with my new KT7A this weekend. I had a few combinations of settings that passed Prime95 and failed 3D Mark 2001. Never the opposite.

I had a few combinations (not OC the PCI bus) where the sound card sounded like crap. Resolved it by enabling HDD DMA, believe it or not. I don't think it is related to your problem, just FYI.

Good Luck ferretting out the problem.
