My two RAID drives sit on IDE 3 and 4 and my storage drive sits on IDE 1. The burner and cd drives sit on IDE 2. They are all connected with ATA 100 cables and yet my burner copies from drive to drive and writes from hard drive to cd with average times for 650mb+ files at twelve to fifteen minutes when it used to do the same in 6 to 7. The problem is that the buffer sits at almost zero forcing the burnproof to stop and start the burn.
I think that maybe the problem is that there is so much traffic across the bridge that the buffer never stays full. Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with this problem? I have'nt taken the 40 gig offline yet to see if that helps or solves the problem until I hear from you folk to see what others think might be the problem. My system config is in my sig so you can see I have plenty of ram and speed, why is this burner running so slow since I enabled the RAID?
