Hi there i have a Samsung HD103UJ which came out of a Lacie external HDD which was working. I removed it because i wanted to put it inside my case. Now the problem, when i try and install it via sata cable to any of the additional sata ports on my mother board it wont let my PC turn on fan moves for a split second then i have to remove power cable and remove Samsung HDD to power up my pc again. I am not a complete Noob as i have built many pc's and upgrades. But this has me stumped. Please let me know any further info you need. It is a Gigabyte Mainboard.

Since the drive works in the carrier and not in the PC, I'd have to guess that Lacie orders a proprietary pinout from Samsung (connector contacts jumbled from standard).
If there's no internal cable in the external housing that you can use (converting the pinout back to standard) then I'd say you're stuck with an external drive.

Samsung Hdd problem

I had thought of that but it doesnt seem to have jumpers thats where i am a bit confused.
