I have four IDE HDDs that take up all the IDE ports, so I used IDE-to-SATA adapters for my CDRW and DVD-R drives (their abit brand). On my epox this setup worked find (4 HDDs on IDE and 2 opticals on SATA), but it doesn't work correctly with my 250Gb board.

If I plug the two optical drives into the SATA ports (1&2 or 3&4) it sees the drives in the BIOS, but when XP starts to boot the "loading XP screen" (with the loading bar) takes a very long time to show up, and when it finally does the system boots normally. When I get into XP it only shows one optical drive. If I disconnect the drives the loading screen comes up immediately (no delay) and everything works fine.

Any ideas on how to remedy this?
