I,ve got a problem with folding on my laptop it stopped working so i reinstalled but it just sits there, on the bottom where it says working or getting work packet it now says news from [email protected] welcome to 2.0 Its running fine on my other comp.

Does it show the copywrite info or did it download a new core? I suppose it could have downloaded a bad core or bad work.
If it's showing the copywrite statement then it should be working on the first frame.

Don,t know what your asking, its the reg screen but nothing working.

There are two different [email protected] programs. One is the Graphical version which shows the protein working on the screen and is seen in full screen. The other is the Console version that runs in MS Dos and is text only. From the way you discribe it you seem to be using the graphical version.

Quit the program and go to the [email protected] folder. You will see two icons there that Ploaf is refering to. One is the Work directory and just looks like a folder. The other is Core 65.exe which could be refered to as the engine. It sounds like the engine is not working properly. Right click on core65 and delete it. Restart the program and it should automatically download a new one and start working. If you still have the same problem repeat the above procedure but this time delete the work directory. On restart it should download a new one and go to work. If you still have problems completely remove the [email protected] program from your system and reinstall it. Hope this helps.

Did all still doesn,t work have reinstalled 4 times no luck. I,ll just run seti on the laptop still folding on the 2nd unit.

Have you tried running the Console version? It runs in MS Dos and has minimal probs. Try it , you'll like it. Fold On!!.

BTW. We want that Laptop. Don't give up. Just be very descriptive with the info you give us so we can picture what you're seeing.

Leave it for 10/20 mins. Are you on dialup/cable/dsl/what?
Make sure you set up the proxy server correctly, or if you dont have one make sure you didn't set one.

I am on dsl. i let it sit all night still nothing. Like i said the screen comes up everything looks the same except bottom of screen instead of working it says news from [email protected] welcome 2.o the version i installed was 2.15

What about your proxy server - it definately IS set up if needed?

Look in the directory you installed the client. Is there a file called Core65.exe or similar? Check it proprties and make sure its size isn't 0 bytes.

btw, I think server 110 is down, that may be the problem.

Its working now. how do you find out if there is a server problem or any kind of problem before i start reinstalling 4 or 5 times for nothing.

Check out http://groups.yahoo.com/group/folding2 for the latest. I'm not sure how you figure out if a server is down. Something in the logfiles I think.

There is a file in your directory called FAHLog. This will show you every step in the download, upload, or folding process. If a server is making you wait it will state this. Check it out. It's a great tool.
