Back up from the dead.
Decided to pull the tigger and get the MSI Geforce 1070 Gaming X cards. These are the replacement to the Geforce 960 Gaming cards. Running SLI setup still, which should yeild great results. I got tired of waiting for the 1080 EVGA FTW cards to be avalible, correction, allow customers more than 20 seconds to place an order when they do become available. They are a bit wider and longer than the 960 cards. It is the MAX this Alienware case can take.. It was a bit of a PITA to install the new cards and equally as so to remove the old ones. The CPU cooler is so large, it's hard to access the release tab when removing the cards. So far so good, quality is better than the 960 cards. Here are some of the pictures.
Moment they arrived
Side panel removed, old cards as shown.
After Destruggle, the cards are removed.
960 on the left, 1070 on the right.
back side of the 1070
Installed after another Destruggle..
Test run.. all good.
I ordered the wrong SLI bridge. I need a short, not a long.. Stupid mistake on my end. Ordered a new one from Amazon. Will be in tomorrow.
