Promise ATA100 Controller = Raid or Promise ATA100 Controller not= Raid?

on my A7V, i have a promise ATA100 controller. is that a raid controller? or am i just dumb? how do i know if i have raid or not?

I'm assuming that you mean you have a Promise ATA100 PCI controller card. No, it isn't a RAID card, they are significantly more expensive. But, many have been successful using the guide here http://www.tweakhardware.com/ to convert their card into a RAID card.
Edit: I see that that board uses Promise onboard. Well, they have a guide to do the same to it there as well.

I succesfully converted a PCI Promise UltraATA100 Controller to a Fasttrak100 RAID controller. It was easy and it worked fine. For me it only required two short wires, two resistors, the fasttrak100 bios image, and the guts to cut up a perfectly good IDE controller...
