promise ata100 controller slower that via ide master?

For all those asus a7v133 owners that arnt using raid if you hook up the promise ata100 controller your preformance is slower that the via controller i found that with the promise i score around 20000 and with the via ide bus master i score 22000-24000 acording to sisoft hope this helps a few of you out that try to skweeeeeez every bit of preformance out of thetr comp like i do Lucks

what OS are you running?
If it's 2k, and you don't have service pack 2 installed, windows doesn't know how to transfer at ata100. Once you do get it installed if that's the case, it should hopefully work fine

im running ME so i dont think that is what hurting it is there any newer promise drivers out?
