i would invest in the new 800 fsb chips as those oc quite well. as for mobo, its pretty much a matter of preference. some people like the abit ic7 & ic7-g, while others like myself prefer the asus p4c800 & p4p800. those are all around better, but i hear its hard to install prommy on them.

I would get a prom if I had the money, but think about what you can get with the money. (800FSB P4, Abit IC7 Max2, Memory) and maybe some money left over for watercooling.

I have a Prometeia, and these are my overclocks:

P4 2.40(533) @ 3.3 --> 38%
P4 2.53(533) @ 3.3 --> 31%
P4 2.66(533) @ 3.2 --> 20%
P4 3.00(800) @ 3.9 --> 30%

So you see, the old 533 processors max out pretty much around 3.3 Ghz. So if you already are around that level, I don't think you will see much of an improvement.

The newest addition to my collection is still testing so I hope it will go a little bit faster than the 3.9 I'm at right now.

Maybe you just don't have "good" CPU's.......Take a look at that.......ON a Prommie.....

I just can't get the CPU's to run stable at higher speeds.
Are all your oc's Prime95 stable, Hipro5?

Is your Prometeia a standard one, or is it modified in any way?
I find it hard to believe that I could be the unluckiest guy in the world ;-) and have such a bad luck in buying my CPU's.

Just a warning Ive had some minor problems with condensation with my amd setup.You need to be sure not to mess up at all with setting up the seal string.I would also recomend using luberex to seal the socket pin holes.You can get it here
linky .

NOT STABLE at those speeds....Just MAX screenshoots...... ;)

The first one(1.8GHz) is on an ABIT IT7-Max2 V.1 Mobo......

The second and the third are on an ASUS P4G8X Granite Bay Mobo.....

.....and the last one(P4 3GHz) is on an ABIT IC7 Mobo......

The 1.8GHz C1 Dell stepping was stable at 3680MHz with 1.700VCore.....MAX bench at 3730MHz.....

The 2.4GHz C1 SL6EF was stable at 3750MHz with 1.725VCore......Max bench at 3780MHz....

The P4 3.06GHz was stable at 4093MHz with 1.725VCore.......Max bench at 4140MHz.....PCMark2002 CPU bench : 10184 .... :D

The P4 3GHz is STILL under test and it can't handle anything above 1.750VCore nomatter what....It goes crazy above that VCore......They are the NEW generation chips with low vcore......

Take a look at it ON AIR with the default VCore and default Intel's heatsink(Modded for full speed)for a MAX frequency screenshot.....

EDIT : It is a Modded Prometeia with R404 gas......With default Prommie just count down about 100MHz less....

the 3.0c should be on IC-7 (right, George?)

Right Gary..... :D

....but I think that I HAVE to buy an ASUS P4C800 Mobo to modd the Vmem so as I can AGAIN reach the 3.5Vmem coz with the ABIT one there is NO WAY to do that and I WANT to "break" the 7000 memory bandwidth barrier...... ;) :D
