And whoever decided to put that hardware in the PS3 was the biggest idiot... it's horrible for a console. The 360 and Wii got it right, keep it as simple as possible and as efficient as possible... otherwise developers will hate you.
But what a load of SONY marketing saying that have the best console on earth and nothing is anywhere near as powerful as it to any degree.
218 GFLOPS of floating point performance... floating.
Most Intel CPUs have wayyyyy more floating performance then AMD processors, but somehow the K8 pwned everything, later beaten by the far newer Core 2.
And wtf HD-DVD 30Gb... they can hold way more then that, and they're alot cheaper, just over 1/10 the price to produce EnMasse.

I think Microsoft should launch a similar commercial campaign since non-techies will believe anything you tell them about power. Since Sony is so stuck on capacity in those commercials...it could flash the word Capacity....memory we have alot more....Capacity....our warehouses have more 360's in stock......they could also go into how a 3 core power PC system with 3 virtual cores is able to have the cores change processing functions...not just lock in......oh BTW didn't Sony have to disable one of the cells SPE's...so it's not 8 cells it's really 7? Microsoft could could that movie trailer guy...the bald guy or Morgan Freeman.

Sorry Shell, but I have to call you on this one. DL HD-DVD will only hold 35GB of data. DL BD-DVD will hold 50GB. BD wins by 15GB here.

The numbers Sony published regarding DL HD-DVD aren't too far off. Certainly not far off enough to get up in arms about, however.

It should be mentioned that Toshiba has had lab working 3 layer HD DVD discs since last spring that do 45gb.

What are the specs on an XBOX 360 anyways? I haven’t really looked much into game consoles lately.

So who's got the right appliance? Should I get a 360 now or wait 'till after Christmas for (or longer for MSRP) for a PS3? What would you do? One or the other.

ok, sure the playstatino 3 could handle making every snowflake in a snowstorm unique. but will programmers implemen6t this?? fudge no. they will take the easy way out and make every single snowflake a sprite of the same shape. it is pointless to waste processoing power on a snow storm when they could use that to handle ai and texture mapping. what a bunch of propaganda crap!

If you want to start talking of 45GB HD-DVD disk then you have to talk about the 200GB disk as they have been in development for a fair amount of time now. So going of that the gap goes from 15GBs to 155GBs. 1http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,117867-page,1/article.html

Anyway I think most people are missing the point of this ad. It's not to see if the PS3 is smarter then you, it's to show off it's power. Or it's power according to Sony anyway.

Offtopic: If you are going into price of the PS3 don't forget it comes with both a Blu-Ray player and Wireless card. Try getting those for the 360 and thats what another 300$ right there? Then you start talking about the price on online play since Sonys' is free and you'll start to see it's really not a bad deal.

I'm gonna dig out the old argument though, if I don't want wireless ethernet or to watch HD-DVD movies then I don't have to spend the extra $300.
