Pump Failure

I intend to waer cool my next rig but still have a few questions , one being : In a case of pump failure how long would I / my rig have to avoid high temps and meltdown ?

I know with air cooled athlons the time window is small if fan failure occurs and some ppl doubt that some rigs could auto shut down fast enough . I just wanted to know what it would be like on a wc system .

Also what is the mean time before failure on those Eheim pumps ?

I know when I turn off the pump on my system (1 ghz) when its idling the motherboardmonitor temp rises about 2-3 centigrade a minute.

I think if you were to set a program to turn of your system at maybe 5 degrees over your load temps you would be fairly safe.
