does anyone know how to make a relay to turn a mains pump on, i have almost fried my cpu three times by forgetting to turn the pump on, any advice would be recieved well.

A quick and obvious thought ... why not tie your pump power (I assume it is 12 VDC) into one of your spare hard drive power connectors. That way it will always be on when you fire up your CPU. Good luck.

Run a search for a recent thread in this forum called "turning pump on" or something like that. It suggests a relay from radio shack and has instructions for how to wire it up. It works great for me. It is RS catalog #275-218.
