i noticed that the copper "core" in my heatsink is hollow

i was thinking is there something i can put in there and seal off to increas the heat transference?

or should i just leave it alone

ill attach a pic of what im talking about

well, you could fill it up with solder, lots of solder. Lead and Tin are not excellent heat conductors, but they're a lot better than air. Even so, I doudt you would gain much improvement in temperature.

I think that if you fill it in, you will decrease the surface area the heat can be extracted from. The bowl cut out gives more surface area than a flat end. just my opinion.

I agree with Hoot & CSaddict, that appears to be a radial HS/F setup. Very similar to a Blorb or Corb.

The heat is absorbed in the center and disipated from the sides.
With the fan in the middle. Adding something to the center will probably not help reduce temps.

well i was thinking of filling it with water and epoxying a thing metal cap on top of it

i was thinking that it may help the heat travel more evenly over the blades of the heatsink

like a min heatpipe.

If you can afford it, put Gallium in there and cap it. Gallium goes through a phase change at 30C. Perfect temperature for a heatsink.
