Just wanted to get your opinions on which is better to overclock - the Q9650 or QX9650 or QX9770 on air cooler.

Let's say I have a Megahalems heatsink with one push Panaflo M1BX 38mm fan.

Which one would be worth more to buy in order to achieve better result on that cooler?

My motherboard is gigabyte GA-P35-DS4 1.1 and has the FSB of 1333MHz

According to Intel specifications,
the Q9650 has max temp. of 71.4°C 0.85V – 1.3625V
and QX9650 has max temp. of 64.5°C 0.85V – 1.3625V
and QX9770 has max temp. of 55.5°C 0.85V – 1.3625V

Also, both QXs are verry pricey.

if price isnt the issue the QX9770, if you really have to worry about price the Q9650. i would only suggest QX's to people that want it for bragging rights or if you on extreme cooling where those unlocked multis can be used.

The QX9650 and QX9770 are for the most part all older chips. Q9650's were produced for longer. So even though the QX chips have an overclocking advantage in terms of an adjustable multiplier, an E0 Q9650 would still be a better overclocker than a non-E0 QX9650 or QX9770 unless your motherboard is completely terrible and can't do a high FSB.
