I just totally shut off QoS on my WinXP machine. Uncheck the box in network setup thingy

Agreed, zero or totally shut off is the best, no need for the system to call home. Unfortunately, if you have XP Home there are no ways of reducing it's reserved bandwidth. Bad news for those on a dial up.

Yeah I have mine unchecked too, it does nothing but suck ur priceless bandwidth! =)

Mine is uninstalled on my machine too. When windows uses terms like Quality of Service...you should probably uninstall it.
