if you are using Windows 2000 or XP, right click on my computer then click on Manage, you'll find it there under disk management

umm, it says "changing the drive letter of a volume might cause programs to no longer run. Are you sure you want to change the drive letter? ...yes or no?

Say yes to that....

what it means is that if any programs are pointing to a link that is located on that drive it will no longer be valid.

IE

D:\MYfile on your D: drive

You change drive D: to say.. F:

Now the path D:\Myfile is no longer valid because you changed the drive letter.

The new path would be F:\Myfile

If you just have data like mp3's and what not's on the drive then you'll be ok....If you have programs installed you may run into shortcuts that don't work and things not being able to find needed files that use to be on D: but are actualy on F: now. The programs wont recognize the change of drive letter is what i'm trying to say I guess.

I've changed drive letters before on my drive that has only downloads and MP3 files and been just fine. Just remember that if there are programs pointing to files on that drive you will have to change the path they are pointing to To the new drive letter.

useless stuff? the only useless stuff i have heard lately is that kooky idea of puting a lcd on the side of your case and attaching a camera to the inside of your case to display whats on the window. weird.

sorty to flame you Ranger but IMHO its a just not a great idea.

It's not useless to someone that dosn't know but needs to :D

Glad I could help you out. And the only reason I know is because i've gone through the same thing. There's no better way of learning then doing it your self...now if I could just get the college that I attent to burn all the books and let us play with comptuers insted I'd probably have graduated allready

aww, iron hawk, thats unfair....

im joking about the useless info...ive learned more about computers in the last 9 months than i prolly have for the other part of my life...well...close at least...

and iron hawk....my idea is original, what kind of ridicule do you think the guy that came up with direct die cooling, or even watercooling got....but look at what it has done to computers everywhere....my idea is something no one has ever done before...so maybe, when i do it, and it doesnt work out, then ridicule me
