Question IE6

Hi all I have a weird issue. When I click on any link to another web page my browser opens a second window but WILL not display the web page.If I click on STOP and hit REFRESH in this new window I am able to get the web page to display ? I am using XP pro and all the updates are installed.IE 6 is my browser..

Give this a try...open My Computer | View | Folder Options | "File Types" tab | Scroll down to URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol | "Advanced" button | "Edit" button | Check to make sure the following is in the "Application used to perform action" box...

"C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome

Also, make sure the rest of the fields have the following entries...

"Use DDE" should be checked
"DDE Message:" should be set to: "%1",,-1,0,,,,
"Application:" should say: IExplore
"DDE application not running:" should be blank
"Topic:" should be: WWW_OpenURL

Next, scroll down to URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy

The same settings as I noted above for HTTP should also be applied to this file type.

Quit all programs that are running including IE and OE | Click Start | Run | Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll, and then click OK. When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message, click OK. If this doesn't solve your problem, repeat the above steps...except replace "urlmon.dll" with each of the file names below...

Shdocvw.dll
Msjava.dll
Actxprxy.dll
Oleaut32.dll
Mshtml.dll
Browseui.dll
Shell32.dll

Well it may be worse now lol.What switch am I supposed to use ? ? U- ? Any way I used u- and all went well except for Java,oleaut,mshtml. These returned fail...Any other tips ? I have scanned for a virus and worms alll is clean./I even disabled pop up stopper and the fire wall same problem persists/// Thanks

Regsvr32.exe is a program that you can use to register dynamic-link libraries (DLLs) and ActiveX controls in the Registry. Regsvr32.exe has the following command line switches...
/u - Unregister server
/s - Silent; displays no message boxes
/c - Console output

Open the command prompt (Start | Run | Type cmd and click OK), and copy the following in its entirety...then paste it into the box):

Do you use "Proxyconn Accelerator"?...if so, I would guess it possibly hijacked your machine. If you haven't already, try running Spybot and Ad-Aware...possibly even HijackThis.

Darn dude that trick fixed it.I copied and pasted to the comand prompt and then BAM all sorts of sucess messages..Like magic lmao...Prior to doing that the Link you pasted I COULD NOT OPEN.After I did your copy and paste I was able to connect to that microsoft link.

I am curious what I may have ben infected with because Ad aware says i am clean BUT norton Corp edition has massive errors in the event viewer.Errors that yesterday did not occur and these errors are saying IT CAN not scan a file located in system 32 or something..I am going to try to scan again now..THANKS...
