Question on internet stuff...

I was wondering if anyone could give me a "quick" definition of the following:

CNAMES
MX records
A records

I have done Google searches and found a little bit of info, but nothing that really answered what they are. If someone could help me out that would be great! Thanks.

MX records are for mail servers.

A records, hmm... Just trying to think. I think they are something to do with domain names.
