Is a processor such as the 1700+ DLT3C/DUT3C somehow different in that it wouldn't run on the motherboard in system 1 in my sig? (or system 3)

I realize that the DLT3C is default 1.5v, and the DUT3C is 1.6v (correct?), and that I would obviously be overvolting it.

For system 1 or 3 you should be fine. You may need to update the bios if they don't support tbreds but other than that everything should be ok. For overvolting, you should be able to set the vcore in the bios. Even if you can't though, if it's set to 1.6v it still shouldn't hurt the dlt3c.

So what is different about tbreds that a motherboard would have to "support" them? relative to the palomino, that is.

Different architecture involved in a Tbred compared to a Pally. Anyway a quick check of the Jetway website under cpu support will reveal if there is support for it - its dependant on mobo version and on BOM version

Jetway's website doesn't say anything about the DLT3C, but it will support athlon xp's....

I think if it supports Model 8 or tbred, you will be fine. usually, when it says it supports tbreds, it will support all of them up to a certain bus speed and chip speed

ex. supports model 8 athlon xp, up to 2600+ 266fsb

You might luck out and with the latest BIOS the 1700 might be unlocked...I upgraded the BIOS to this 8KHA+ and the 1700 DLT was unlocked...

Well, neither of those boards will change the multiplier in the bios.... only through jumpers... because they were cheap
