Hey I got a basic comp for christmas and it needs a ram upgrade badly. It only has 196 mgb of ram. I was wondering if i can take out the stock ram and just replace it with a stick 256 mgb so I could fit 512 in there, or would taking out the stock ram mess it up in some way. Thanks.

As long as it is the correct type, you can remove the stuff it came with and be fine. Just check the max capacity for the motherboard first though.
