Quiet Case's and PSU's...Antec?

I’m building a computer for my friend and he is a little low on funds. He wants a quiet case and power supply. Now I would recommend the Antec Sonata because it comes with a quiet PSU, fans and other sound absorbing goodies. He doesn’t like the looks of the case and the huge ANTEC branded side panel...or the $100 price.

I am looking to get him a quiet case with a quiet PSU. I found this Antec case with a 120mm exhaust and 350watt PSU.

They look like high quality cases for the price, they come with a quiet 120mm fan but i do not know anything about this power supply. Does anyone know if it’s quiet and reliable?
Also if you guys know any other cases/PSU's that would be quiet and not cost an arm and leg let me know.

The Antec SLK-3700 is a fantastic case. I prefer it over the sonata for price and for the location of the front intake fan. Antec pushes the sonata as their quiet case, but honestly the slk-3700 has everything the sonata has to offer in that department as well.

Another case to consider is the Compucase LX-6A19. Its the case the antec SLK-3700 is based on. It has a different paintjob and front bezel, but the interior is almost identical. It has the same 120mm fan mounts, the same HD mounting grommets etc. Also this case is a bit more flexibile since you can get it without the psu, so you can pick your own.

FYI the 2nd slk-3700 you linked is not actually silver. Its a very nice looking metalic bronze sorta color. Very sharp, but also very conservative(would not be out of place in an office at all). Not for the crowd that likes the neon green types of cases hehe.

Do you have the slk-3700? If so is the power supply loud at all?

Yeah I have both the slk-3700 and the compucase lx-6a19. The psu on the slk-3700 is fairly queit, the exhaust fan is louder than it when running at full speed.

I'm with Deathknight, I personally like Antec SLK-3700 better than Sonata. I believe the new Antec SLK-3700's front fan location is the same as Sonata though.

Aight, thanks for your help. He actually decided to get the ANTEC LanBoy
I don't know how silet this case will be but he likes the window and design, its very similar to the SLK3700 but aluminum.

FWIW that SilentX unit is a Fortron in disguise

I really like my 3700, but am definitely planning to dremel those wierd stock fan grilles off and replace them with wire ones... want more silence

The PSU I swapped out in favor of my more powerful 420, but it's purring away in my parents system where it is quieter than the CPU heatsink fan.

Yeah ditching those honeycomb grills is a great mod. Its unreal how restrictive these stock grills are getting...
