I recently purchased an oem radeon 8500 card. the part number is 1028570700 (ie: not "1100 "1200 (LE) or "1500 (LELE)) which i think means my card isn't manufactured by ATI and also makes it a ***** to find out what the GPU clock speed might be. In advanced display properties the chip is listed as "Radeon 8500 (QL) Rev 0" How do I tell what clock speed I'm running at?

274.6 mhz

excellent [temples fingers]
thanks for your help! Btw, how far can you overclock these things with a stock fan?

many thanks:cool:

Nice deal, You got a retail :) you should take that useless ATI heatsink and throw it in the trash if your going to overclock it.

Some 8500 cores(OEM and retail) just dont get hot, and you can probably get 285-310 out of that 8500 with stock cooling, but I would replace just on the fact that the heatsink is a piece of Shnizit

The gpu heatsink on the 8500 are just a hair better than the original Radeon hsf's which were even more pathetic in functionality.

I have at least a half dozen sitting in a pile as they aren't suitable for anything but gathering dust.....

thanks sam - I know i lucked out, I paid $132 Maybe I'll try a new fan, any recommendations?

A Waterblock is the best, and since an IU cooler like the alpha pal and cooljag wont fit without modding it, I'd get a Crystal Orb as its a whole lot better than the stock cooler :burn:
