Radeon HD 6950 is pissing me off

So if you couldn't guess by the title, my new HD 6950 is really pissing me off. I have a 24" widescreen monitor with a resolution of 1920x1200. However, even after updating the drivers for the video card, I cannot set the resolution to 1920x1200! I'm using Windows 7 btw.

Can anyone help me figure this out before I throw my brand new computer out my window?

what model is the monitor exactly?

Have you tried any 3rd party utilities to set res? I recommend ultramon in particular. Catalyst sometimes seems to think it's too smart to be directed by lowly users. Frustrating.

i just use win7 utilitie to set res

It's an ASUS VE245, I haven't tried any 3rd party apps, but it might be worth looking into
