RAID 0 performance?

I got a BD7-II non-raid board (should have gotten the raid) and had heard that PCI raid cards aren't as good, as they are limited by the PCI speed.

Is it true that PCI RAID cards aren't as fast as on-board RAID?

Both are "limited" by the PCI Bus Speed as you understand it but thats not the true limiting factor but the drives themselves. To your question about performance there is stronger evidence that PCI RAID Controller Cars are faster than onboard controllers. A search will get you a few threads that talk about this in detail.
