I decided against the Thunderbird/KK266-R combo and bought a P3 1GHz and it seems I'm having some slight problems with my GeForce 3 and Soyo 7VCA. Every once in a while I have a lockup and I know it's due to the premature AGP that VIA first introduced. I had a similar problem with my old GF 256 DDR.

Anyway, I was looking at the BX133 RAID but it doesn't support AGP 4X. I know this really isn't a big deal, but I'd like to have it nonetheless. So what are my options as far as good Intel boards with RAID built in? I'm looking at a few but was wanting a few extra opinions.

Thanks for any input...

are you really stuck on the idea of having the RAID on board? I've modded 2 of the promise cards thus far, and I'm very impresed. They only do RAID 0 and 1, but I doubt you're wanting 5?

Anyway, the cards are around $25, but you must make sure to get the older version of the card (which are very available).

I've thought of upgrading to the CUSL2 series, but also contemplated a board with RAID on it. Don't see why tho, supposedly (retail) TX2 Promise cards are 40% faster than on board ATA 100.

Abit Sa6r,St6-raid,Msi 815ep pro-r.
Like Shadow said if you have to have built in raid you limit your choices.

Well, I guess not. I have 3 RAID cards but just wanted it onboard so I could stick those cards in the other PCs I have.

I may go with the Asus Black Pearl and just use my EPoX RAID controller. I've heard alot of good things about that board as well as far as stability goes. Only 512MB of RAM though? If it doesn't accept 256MB memory modules I'm screwed...

As soon as I can stop spending money on vacations..........er I mean business trips, that's my next target. Plus I like the idea of owning a "different" type of board. =)

I say go for the bx133 raid, it might not have agp 4X but this makes little differance, it probabally would only be the same as running your agp bus at 89mhz which you would be doing thanks to the 440bx chip.
