I am buying an ABIT BE6-II R2 and need to know if i really need to get Raid Support or not. I dont really know that much about RAID so i am asking you guys. Thanks in advance...

What do you want to do with it is the better question?
How many harddrives do you have?
you need a min of 2.. use the same model......
and what array do you plan on running ? 1 or 2 ( i think that is all that motherboard supports)
so one way you will lose 1 harddrive(the server as a backup of each other) the write speed will be the same butthe read speed will be 2x as fast
and the otherway they are both joined to be on very larg drive... BUT you can only use them in the array as only 1/2 the info goes on a drive and 1/2 the data on the other.

So to raid or not to raid? dont want to buy a new harddrive? then no.
If you need faster disk speed and dont mind spending the extra for a second HD go for it.

So back to my first question. What do you want to do with it?
you can have very fast read times if you need that, and also very safe data or a large hardrive (that is 2 drives 1 letter)

Thanks man for the reply. I will only be using 1 large HD so I guess i dont need the RAID support. WIll having the mobo that has RAID and not using it cause any problems? The systems will be an overclocked 700E and its use will be everyday Web Design, Software Design, Web Surfing and some rare Gaming. Thanks again for the reply.
