I have a ka-266-r mobo and I have my hard drive not currently using the raid settings.

how do I know if my hard drive can be used with raid? I bought it at a computer show and all it said on it was that it is a Western Digital 7200 rpm

if I was going to hook it up to raid would I have to format the whole drive?

I was going to use just the stripping setting for the raid......

Any drive can be used in a RAID. It is highly recommended that you use identical drives though. I have had good luck with WD drives and it should not be hard to get one of the same model. You probably have a WD300BB.
If you are going to stripe, then yes you will have to reformat. If you were only doing mirroring you might not have to format.
