Hi guys and gals,

I recently setup my hard drives in RAID 0 and found myself having 100% cpu load while running bittorrents.

The result is very unexpected for my original intension was to speed up the system.

I'm just wondering, is there something that I did caused this? or is it an unavoidable outcome since it is a softRaid? (I suppose?)

Hardware Specs:
3500+ Winchester
Asus A8NSLI Dulex
2x512 OCZ 3200 DDR 2225

Thanks!

Just to clarify, that 100% is observed while running 3 instances in BitComet.

First, thanks for the help!

For your question:
The drives are setup via onboard channels. I have tried both Nvidia's and Silicon's. The 100% workload was first spotted using Nvidia's channels.

The process that was taking all the cpu cycles was bitcomet and after manually ending that process from the task manager, cpu load jumped back to 1% - 10%, if I remember correctly. So it's obvious that bittorrent was the one to be blamed.

Have any of you observed this abnormality? I already expected that RAID setups will have an impact on the cpu work load but 100% is a bit off.:bang head

Thanks

100 percent of the processor? Good God! That probably isn't because of the RAID, unless it's majorly bugged.

I checked the properties in device manager but I can't find the PIO? option you mentioned. Does anyone have any other solution??

Also, this 100% cpu load didn't occur right after I started torrents. It only happened after a while I believe.

If it says UltraDMA, you probably are fine in that area.
