stands for redundant array of independant disks...

there is quite alot you would have to know about it, so ill give you my personal (brief :) ) understanding of it, then give some links out...

I see it as a way of putting 2 or more disks on a single system to be seen as one disk...althought there are things about one failing it all fails...and I have read that level 0 isnt actually the fastest as the process of it remembering the striping causes a slow down, but either way I dont think its much use for home pcs (although I have seen a pc someone had been sold with about 3 crap drives raided and causing problems so its common to use not only the same drive speeds, but possibly even use the same drive manu if you can.)
