I don't know much about RAID but my freind has 1 WD 40GB 7200 and 1 WG 40GB 5400RPM. They are pretty much the same make and model, just different speeds. Can we RAID them? Or do they have to be extactly the same?

I think they will only work as fast as the slowest HDD and is kinda pointless IMO then.... But to answer your question you should eb able to RAID them

If I raid them wouldnt it be faster then the 7200 though?
The transfer rates MAY be faster than a single 7200, but seek times will be far slower. I do not advise running these 2 disks in raid.
