GEEZ! I had a GF4 MX440, I even had it pretty OC'ed. I just got a 9700 Pro the other day, and cuz Granite bay sux butt(or at least my board) with AGP 8X, I have to crank the voltage up to 1.7v just to keep it from crashing. My CPU temps have just increased by about 8 degrees Celcius. That SUX MAJOR butt! Is this normal? I am considering getting two new exhaust fans for my computer, as the two I have are really low CFM I believe(but barely even 20 dB). See my siggy for my case.

That shouldn't be happening. Doesn't the 9700 draw power from a floppy drive type connector? You might want to check all your rails w/ a multimeter and make sure you're getting the right amount of power to all your devices.

edit: I just saw you have a 430W p/s so you should be ok for power, it might just be that the power isn't reaching your motherboard. There's a thread about 5v mods in the P/S forum that may help you out.

weird... if anything happend i would think that your temps would go down cuz you video card isnt/as much of a bottle neck. so its probably a power or casetemp problem... i wouldnt be surprised if the extra heat made your temps rise, unless you have good case ventalation:D

Thx for the info =). I have about 60-70 cfm in and 70-90 cfm out, so I would think it wouldnt be too bad of a problem, that's not terrific air flow, but I think it should be at least adequate. Running my computer at a measley 140 FSB and having the temp get up to 60C on a P4 is pretty messed up. =(

How would power problems hurt my temps? The only way I could see this is if the CPU fan isnt getting enough juice, but its still loud as all get out ; )

BTW, I have a temperature monitor installed under my CPU, b/c I was sick of having innacurate MB readings. (And I wanted to quickly glance at temps while running games).

Thx for the help guys.

what cooling do u have on your cpu? (TT 478 CPU fan) if it is hitting 60 i would not say very good......

u may want to check the themal grease between your cpu and fan and possibly put in some new stuff.

where did u put the sensor? hopefully not between the cpu and heatsink!
