Hi everyone.
I'm looking for some info on ram cache programs and their differences.
I'm upgrading my old PC, mainly replacing raid array's dead drives and the old ssd as well. No nvme support, so I'm thinking on buying 870evo sata ssd.
I had been using Samsung's RAPID for years on a 840evo and had good results. The os felt snappier and faster.
I've read Samsung boosted ram caching from one to 4 gbs in the meantime, provided there's enough ram installed.
On the other hand, I've been curious about trying out Primocache. Don't need much ram, the machine is used mainly for web browsing and media streaming. With 16gb of ram, I could dedicate up to 8-9 gb to caching.
I've read on this forum that rapid is just a scaled down version of a proper ram caching software and I'm interested in knowing the difference. Anyone tried and compared both? Any difference in the way they operate? I reckon there's something more with the primocache, since Samsung's rapid comes as a freeware.
Thanks for reading,
Stefan
