I just had a strange experience last night. A while ago I changed my counterstrike resolution to 1024x768 and the screen kind of shrank at the edges, then the refresh rate went to 87hz which I am sure is out of my monitors range, then it stayed at that refresh on my desktop. I fiddled with all the settings I could find in Ati control panel and rage3d tweak, but it stayed that way, so I changed to 1152 res in desktop and counterstrike which was ok for a while until that decided that it was a good idea to run that res at 94 hz! So my freind did a netmeeting and used teh remote desktop control thing to fix the 1024 problem but I forgot to get him to fix the 1152 one. So counterstrike was still set in 1152 and when I tried to play that it came up on as 'out of scan range'. Then never went back to my normal settings as I couldnt see what was going on so I could reset the res. Then I pressed reset and it stayed in 1152 so it was permanently out of scan range. After a few attempts to fix it in safe mode I ended up sending the files i wanted to my server and reformatting windows.
Long story I know but I wondered if anyones ever seen this problem before, and knows why it happens so I can avoid it happening again?
