Hey All,

I just bought an A8N-SLI Premium for a build for a friend. the complete specs are this...

AMD Athlon 64 x2 4400+ Toledo
A8N-SLI Premium
2x1Gb OCZ Platinum DDR (2-3-2-6 timings)
BFG GeForce 7800GTX OC
Maxtor SATA 250Gb Diamondmax 10 (16Mb cache)
Creative Audigy 2 ZS
2 x Plextor 16x DVD Burners (SATA)
Enermax 535w PSU

Alright, I got this stuff last Thursday. I put it together the install went flawlessly. I installed the mobo drivers, and the video drivers. I went on to the Audio drivers for the Audigy and it randomly locks up and reboots. I figured the sound card was causing an issue so I took it out and re-installed. I still got random reboots. I tried installing Windows x64 and same issue. I can always get Windows installed without problems, but once it's installed it freaks out and gives random reboots. I have tried putting my Muskin LVL1 in and I still get issues. I noticed after a while it stopped recognizing the Maxtor, so I took it out and put my Raptor in. It installed fine again and now I get issues that I am trying to install more than drivers. I have issues getting into safe mode to fix it and just getting it to run stable. My temps on the entire system aren't an issues my system never gets over 35C under water. A couple friends have said it could be a power issue, and I would tend to think so now too. I am going to try a different PSU when I get home. I don't have another 24-pin PSU though so I am hoping that my buddies Fortron 530w will be able to show if it's the problem. I would appreciate any help.

The psu was going to be my guess too, if this was a build with more common parts but I'm thinking it could also be a problem with the dual core cpu and to fix you could try updating the bios.

Normally I would agree with you on the mobo and Bios not agreeing with the dual-core CPU, but it is the Officially supporting Bios by Asus and it is the latest full release BIOS. I haven't taken the time yet to try the Beta's. I should update, I tried a friends Fortron 530w in it and even though it's only a 20-pin (there is an extra plug on the mobo for either a second vid card or if you are using a 20-pin PSU) PSU, it still booted just fine. When I was trying other things it seemed to do just fine as well. I am going to send the power supply in and try and get the OCZ Powerstream 520w to replace it as I have heard this is a really good PSU. Thanks for your thoughts.
