The multipliers matter more with C2D based overclocking, so the best chip would be a hybrid of a e6400 with a x6800's multi, and without the extra 2mb cache which just hinders oc, and has negligible benefits.

this is when the E4300 comes in during january... its a conroe (allendale) core but insted of 266fsb its 200 so you are guarenteed a higher multi.

yes the e4300 is going to be the next cpu around 150 to get for ocing. 9x multi 200fsb, basicly your looking at stock volts doing 2.4ghz out of the box possibly higher based on current E6xxx's.

There's a chance Allendale won't clock as well as Conroe does.

E6300 and E6400 both being crippled Conroe dies makes predicting how a native 2MB chip performs a bit tricky. Considering Allendale is supposed to be budjet solution....
Maybe they cut the price by using lower quality silicon, etc.
