isnt a rugular 7200.11 hdd with 32mb faster than a raptor 150 x?

i really dont no man, some ppl say it is, some say it isn't...i really dont like it to be honest, very noisey and speed increase ins't much, i got this from bestbuy...so might return it in day or two...

Moving sequential files, sure, but the Raptor is no slouch there either. Running the OS and apps, no. The .11 is an average performing drive. If you want to ditch the Raptor, I'd get the new WD 320/640GB AAKS model which will be a better performer than the .11 easily.

Objection, states facts not in evidence your honor.

tusken, I'm not really trying to be an *** and you are obviously a smart guy, but please try to avoid stating things as facts when they are actually just opinion or informed guesswork. You certainly come across as just having an anti-Seagate bias.

Sorry I have to be the "anti-Seagate" guy who owns a couple of Seagates(always bought on sale and for storage only). This forum needs a sobering balance to the pro-Seagate lemmings. The Seagates(.7-.11) have been proven to be average performers many times over. This is fact yet lemmings continully recommend Seagate drives as some Raptor alternative. Don't think the Raptor is worth it, fine, there are cheaper, lessor options out there to dissapoint you. Hard drive improvements run on a much smaller scale. The technology is slow by nature. Anyway, plenty of reviews show the AAKS drives besting the .11 drives. Then put those results together with the denser platters of these new models and you'll have an even better drive. So maybe a little assumption on the new drive, but since the old platter versions are better already, I don't think it's a leap in logic. If you disagree, I'll take your wager...........

Indeed, I didn't disagree that the new WD *might* be better than the Seagate. As you probably know, I have one of the new 320GB/platter WD drives. I was just pointing out that you seemed to be stating something as a fact when it appeared to be opinion.

To be fair, I should probably point out that you're hardly the only person on the Internet guilty of that particular crime...
