First of all, hello everyone, if you cant tell I;m new here (1st post) been lurking a while and decided after much contemplating to WC my rig..

Anways, on to the question;

Which CPU block will perform better? The Danger Den RBX or the D-Tek whitewater?

Also the rest of my system will be;
Chevette heatercore (according to the folks at PimpRig *my other home* its equal to or better than the BIX)
Danner Mag 2
Swiftech GPU block

and the kicker, preferably 3/8" ID tubing, might go 1/2" if it will get me more than 2-3*c on my temp but from what I gather its a >1*c difference

Thanks all...

From what I have heard the RBX is good if you have a high power pump to go along with it meaning over 300gph so maybe you should get a danner mag3. Not to sure on the whitewater or performance between the two. I believe there is a review of the RBX at www.overclockers.com

Supposidly the RBX and WW are similar at lower flow rate, but WW will perform a tad better at higher flow rates.

But generally, they are more or less on par with each other from as far as I can tell.

WW will perform better than RBX. They both require high pressure pump to perform well. So If you feed Mag 3 to both of them WW will perform better.

We're all still waiting for JoeC to test a WW but no complaints as he is doing us a favor by testing all these blocks.

I think its going to come down to the fact that RBX is cheaper than WW...

It is? The WW (AMD is $49.99) from D-Tek... Isn't that cheaper than the RBX? Check HERE.

Cool, thanks everyone.

As for the pump; it seems that the Mag 2 and 3 are the same, just gotta remove something from the 2 and it becomes a 3, saves ya $10

please do tell as I have a pondmaster which is just a mag 2 and would love to have mag 3 with just a simple mod:D

I've heard that before, about pulling out the restrictor in the Mag2, but the impeller is different between the two pumps. The Mag3 & 5 have the same impeller but the 2's is different. And the Mag2 is 24 watts while the Mag3 is 35. Doesn't look like they're the same pump to me...

You sure about that? I've never heard anything like it...it's kind of hard to believe that a pump that consumes 11 watts less power and whatnot is really the same with a slight modification. Do you know a guide on how to do it?

Also...currently the WW is $3 CHEAPER than the RBX. :)

Here in the UK the RBX is about £10m cheaper than the WW.

I've got me an RBX for xmas, but if the two were the same price, I'd probably have gone for the WW since it seems like a more sturdy block. The RBX is Tiny and seems to have really low fins in it. Though appearance means nothing to performance.

But yeah, need to wait for Joe on the WW. Does anyone know if he is in possession of one? Maybe someone with some influence should get D-Tek to send him one...

yall ALL WRONG ;)

10% sale on Dangerden ! for purchase over $50 ;)
plus additional 5% off when u rate DD @ resellerratings.com

15% off total..Dangerden was kind enough to offer discount for items I purchased last week..WOOT

Well today I took my pondmaster 2 apart and there is a little cup that serves as a guide for the impeller. I removed it, glued the impeller together so that it wouldn't rattle and then I sealed up the base. I ran some water through it and it seems to have a little more flow. Also even without that guide cup it doesn't rattle and for me it seems quiter especially once I get it in an enclosure then I think I will be whisper quit. :D
