Hey, it's me again.

I've been having some issues with my sound drivers. My specs are in my signature. Basically, I've got a front output, front input, and rear I/O panel. When I plug my speakers into my rear I/O panel, it shows up in both the Windows audio devices menu and the Realtek audio menu as being unplugged. No sound will play through the rear ports. However, when I disable front jack detection in the Realtek utility, I can get sound to come out of my rear ports, but it registers in both the Windows audio devices menu and the Realtek utility as being the front panel. So when I have speakers plugged into the front panel, they don't work at all, and when I plug them into the rear panel and disable front panel jack detection, they show up as being plugged into the front panel.

I used to be able to use both my front and rear ports without any problems, but that's no longer the case. I have tried new drivers from my mobo manufacturer's website, as well as drivers straight from Realtek. Nothing seems to solve this problem.

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. I'm pretty desperate here.

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried updating the BIOS? I know that it's possible to override BIOS supplied configuration in Linux, but I have no idea how to do it in Windows.

Did you change in Bios or Windows the front panel configuration of the jacks? I can't recall off the top of my head, but there is an option normally in either Bios or the Windows Realtek drivers to set the front panel to either AC'97 or HDAudio, which work differently and can cause problems with properly detecting when something has been plugged into the jacks.

It seems that my options are rather limited when it comes to audio configuration in the BIOS. I've gone through every menu option in the UEFI, and I did find a menu option regarding HDAudio, but the only options were "auto", "enabled", and "disabled". It was already set to "enabled".

I didn't find anything related to AC'97, though.
