Those of you who have bought a winchester 3000+ online recently - where did you buy, did you buy oem/retail, what stepping did you receive, what week was it fabbed, and what date did you buy it (estimate)? Especially if you purchased it from newegg, I would like to hear from you. Are there any vendors who would tell me any of this information over the phone? (I have never really shopped around online... n00b)

I will get a direct deposit in my checking account tomorow night, and I would really like to spend it pronto.

Just a bit ago I ordered a 3000+ OEM (we should mention OEM / retail as well, chances are that the chips that they have on hand could be different depending on whether they're retail or not) from NewEgg, so I'll have this info whenever I get the chip (could be Friday, not likely though, probably Monday).

At the rate I am slowly chipping off more and more of the core of my 1700+ I may be shopping around for a Winchester too.

EDIT: And if no one minds, if they could post their clockspeed and voltage, that would be pretty useful too. :)

Thanks, and thanks in advance!

Good advice, OP editted. I will be anxiously awaiting your post - chances are I will be ordering everything from newegg. I would expect you to get it by friday also, with the way they ship things.

Thanks for the quick responses, keep them coming! :D

Well, I figured it would be more efficient to just post in your thread about the clockspeeds and voltage because:

1.) I am sure it will help you too

2.) If this thread kinda becomes a nice little database on steppings and where to buy 3000+ Winchester's, I figured if people posted how well their's OC'ed would add to the whole usefulness factor

3.) Might as well post in yours instead of creating an identical one of my own just asking for the same thing plus some OC's.

:)

cbbhd... I've seen a 3000+ cbbhd 0447 that performs great! ;)

I wonder how hard it is to add an alternate ship to address with my bank - I want to order tomorow from newegg now that I heard this, especially with an OEM chip, but I am in cleveland and my bank statements go back home an hour away so I don't think newegg would ship here. :-/

They should be able to ship to an alternate address... I recall a setting for making the shipping address the same as the billing address, so I'm pretty sure you can.

Oh yeah, and my chip hasn't shipped yet so it looks like I'll be getting it Monday probably.

Thought I'd mention my Newegg purchase here:
3200 Winnie ordered over the weekend, arrived yesterday (Feb 16).
ADA3200DIK4BI
CBBHD 0450VPDW

Doesn't seem like the worst stepping/week, but it's a crap shoot anyway I guess.

Waiting on an XP-90, so haven't fired her up yet. New to A64 - looking forward to seeing what's what. Will post more as things develop.

I am going to order a 3000+ winchester OEM today as well from newegg just have to drive to the bank. Going to use the Thermalright XP-90 with AS5 as the cooling.

Newegg ships so many chips and from different locations, that info of what someone else got may not be as useful as you'd hope.

It's a gamble, unless you go to your corner mom&pop computer shop and ask to cherry pick, usually paying more + tax if you do....

That's why newegg (and others) don't list steppings btw... places that used to, also sold less, a lot less, then newegg....

From postings here c627627, it would appear the odds aren't that bad... Although I agree with you completely that with newegg's volume and different distribution locations - I wouldn't consider it predictable at all.

Hey jive, does buckeye city mean you live in Ohio - the buckeye state? My chances of getting a similar chip would be better if so because both our chips would atleast ship from the same distribution warehouse.

i ordered a retail 3200+ from newegg on monday morning it arrived this morning

CBBID 0501EPDW
ADA3200DIK4BI

a good example on why not to rely on the cpus others have recieved in same period of time from a high volume vendor.

mine shipped out of california btw.

The 3200+ retails I've seen lately from the egg have all been cbbid's... I might see if there is anywhere that I can cherry pick, but I really don't know cleveland that well yet. :-/

I have no clue if there's any stores around me (fairly large city) that have processors either.
