What's Going on,

I am At my friend's house and I promised him a couple times that I would reformat his hardrive. Well a couple months have passed and he has got a few new parts from his mom. He Doesn't know what they are because his mom sent someone to the house to add the parts to the computer. The question I have is, Where can I find a program to find out what software I need for he's drivers? I need to burn them all onto a disc before I do anything so I can have them for reformat. I have Ever----- Something On my computer. I was wondering if that would do it and what hardware I need software for.

If you have Win XP just make sure you have the modem or cable modem's drivers. Win XP will have at least a functional form of a lot of the oher drivers. Keyboard ,mouse, monitor ect. If you can get on the internet you can download every thing else. Unplug every accessory, printers and all that crap so you don't have do deal with it 'till later. Main drivers you need are Modem,GPU,Sound.

If you don't have hi speed(ISP) then get them before you start.

I think he's got some kinda d-link connection for he's internet and I think it will need the software for it to have an active internet connection. I also think the windows XP he has doesn't have the original cd key so the Internet Updates won't work will they? Anyway I have Everest now on his computer and I am writing everything down before I head to my house. Thing is I don't have a burner or I could get him all the software

What do you mena you don't have an ORIGINAL CD key? If the key itself is lost but the current install is a valid and legal copy of Windows then the magical jelly bean software will get the key he is using now. If it is a pirated copy then you are out of luck, and he needs to buy himself some legal software. Without a key you won't be able to even complete the install, so forget about updates.

As far as drivers go well what about USB drives? Does he have a CD burner? Why not just collect drivers and burn drivers at his house? Are you sure he needs drivers for the internet? Most of the time you can get online with the drivers Windows installs, but can find better ones from the hardware manufacturer. Your friend doesn't have any driver CDs at all? None came with the computer?

It's a *Mumbles* Ripped copy of XP...And the plain is to burn the driver software at his house. Other than that I'm getting the infromation for the drivers from Everest. I'm going back to his house later on this week (Maybe) and will begin then. I'll keep everyone posted when I get there.

-thanks

No need to...we all know what's going to happen.

Be careful what you say here; talking about the p word can get you banned. Not that I have any real problem with people not giving M$ their hard earned cash, but those are the rules here.
