Let me know what you think so far!

Ok, I got the whole unit together.. Just waiting for a few refrigeration places to call back so I can get this thing filled and running!

Excellent.
Very pleased you have posted your up-date.I have been looking for original post "Home-made Vapochill" and your site url for a few days without avail.
Thank you,
Les

Assuming I was interested in destroying my machine by attempting something like this (believe me I would destroy it!) would a de-humidifier have enough guts in it or would I need an actual refrigerator?

To be honest, I've never seen the insides of a dehumidifier, but I would have to assume that it wouldn't have what you need in it.. I know... never assume...

It's running!!! I just got it filled and ready to go! I'll be hooking it up to my PC in a few days, after some testing...

Can't wait. I've been waiting for this post to pop up again. Looking forward to seeing your results.

By the way, How does it sound noise wise? Is it loud or not? I would imagine it could get loud at times with that compressor. Then again maybe not?

A dehumidifier should be able to cool it. If i set my dehumidifier to constantly run i get a big sheet of ice on the cooling tubes.

What was the cost of this project? I assume it was expensive to get the unit filled.

The refrigeration unit was $48
The copper was about $30
I filled it myself with a kit from an auto parts store..
Refrigerant $7, hose $14
total... $100.00
(I also bought a Digital Doc 5 for temp monitoring ($60)
Insulation was only about $3 total..

Very cheap project I think.. Better than $700 for a Vapochill!!

It's extremely quiet too.. Can't even hear the compressor.. The fan on the radiator is about the same noise level as a PSU fan..

Well, let us now how it turns out and the ease of the whole project. Maybe write up an article for the front page. You may just start a trend yet. Especially with the cost of the project being so low. I know with those prices and if everything is readily available to the average person I'd be interested in doing it.

Everything is going great so far.. I tested the system a bit & it looks like I'm ready to put in the PC.. I'm painting the case, so I won't be updating my site until Saturday... Get ready for a treat! This setup is gonna rock!

(I didn't realize posting links wasn't allowed, but you can still get to my site via my homepage button to the left <~)

Wow that looks really good. Nice idea on the evaporator. The clamp will be a challenge.

I'm suprised it was soooo cheap! I paid a little more than $100 just for my water cooling.

Dude!!! you telling me I can't post my link to my own website???? Geeez it makes it look like your doing things not so good.....

I have one downstairs it looks like a mini frige... How it works is it has the coils in the front and a fan behind the back... What it does it suck out the damp air and pulls it pass the coils were it then turns into a water fourm. And drips into a bin. And the dry air leaves out the back.
