Remote connection, how?

I have a cable modem to a d-link router and then two computers in different locations hooked up to it. Now I want to connect to a computer in another office via internet. I use xp and 98. How do I set a remote computer up with my network?

Thanks, that is a good start. I cannot set it up yet, because the office is not yet ready. But if I have some questions I know now where to ask.
