Remove mediaplayer

Im using winXP and would like to know if there is a way to remove mediaplayer 8 and use an older version..

Well if it's one of those things that Windows hides from the Add/Remove Software menu and protects via "Windows File Protection", you need to first disable file protection and then I believe the file you'll need to edit to show you what Windows components are installed is called sysoc.inf. Remove the word "hide" without quotation marks with nothing so that where hide was now looks like "something,,something". That should show you Windows Components. If Media Player is already listed, you can skip the above. If it isn't listed and you do the above and it still isn't listed, there's nothing I can do for you, as my knowldge stops there.

Go look under c:\program files\windows media player

Look for mplayer2.exe

That's the old WMP 6.4 version.
