Well I removed the shim and scraped the yellow crap off the heatsink and the core of rhte most part. Added a thin layer of AC3. I see no improvement in overclockability, I can get teh core up to 370, anything higher and I see artifacts. Oh well.

Also I found a much easier way to remove that shim, I used a industrial type razor blade, very strong, slid it under one side and pried up, came off quite easy.
 
I think if you lapped the Heatsink you might get slightly better contact and a better overclock, I can run my 9500pro almost to 400 core without artifacts( Watercooled)
