removing hard drives..

what is the file i have to change if i want to take out a hard drive. my rig wont boot if i dont have the drive in. i forgot the file name but can someone help me?

What OS? IF 2K or XP, boot.ini.

It could be that you left a pagefile on that drive that it's still trying to access, I ran into that a few times with 2k.

You would need to boot it in safe mode and modify the pagefile settings (remove it from that drive). I don't think XP has this problem though
