Has anybody replaced the 3-speed switch on a Volcano 7+ HSF with a rheostat yet? If so, how does it do, and from where did you get the rheostat? The 7+ is rated at 0.55 amps and 6.6 W, which exceeds the specs on the rheostat that CrazyPC offers. Radio Shack doesn't seem to carry a large enough rheostat, either, at least in my area. Thanks for any help...

welcome to the forums abevick!

the ones from Radio Shack are good enough. They have one kind that they carry in stores, a 25 ohm version supposed to be good for 3 watts. I'm running 2 Delta 38s through one of them at this very moment- something like 9 watts as I believe. It gets a little warm at the slowest speed, but not dangerously so. I stuck a little IC heatsink on it to be safe.

most importantly- it works great. And it's only four bucks:)
