Well I just downloaded the latest version of prime 95 today and the first time I ran it I got a rounding error after 50 minutes of the torture test. Now for some reason i'm getting the error after 2 to 5 minutes(ugh) on the system listed in my sig. I don't suspect that it is a result of heat since i'm running at 37C full load watercooled. I have successfully run 3dmark 2k1 and Sandra burn in (ran sandra 170 times).

I almost always get this error(numbers are almost always the same too)

Just did another test - what a surprise, almost the same exact rounding error  Could there be something wrong with my cpu? I just built the system two days ago. Also, I don't think its the voltage because I have tried higher with no luck.

prime95 errors can be caused by either CPU or RAM or both, so an error is not necessarily your CPU but the CPU is generally the culprit. Try tuning down your RAM settings a bit and run the test again. Also make sure your temps are accurate.

I set my rambus ram to 3x(running at 399 mhz) instead of 4x(533) at 133 fsb just to see if it was my memory. So far the rambus ram seems to be the problem as I have been running prime 95 for about 20 mins without problems. I really want 533mhz ram though so i'm not sure what I have to do, maybe more cooling.

on my ddr board the epox 4BDA I found if I increased the voltage to both the cpu and the ram the errors went away. I'm currently running 2.4ghz smooth but I think I'm getting close to the cap until I get a bigger heatsink to cool my processor.

Oh yea, btw from my experience with this cpu/ram, it hits the errors on prime95 in the first 30 or so or else it can run for days without an error. Might just be my setup though.

glad to hear it isn't your CPU maybe some RAMsinks will help or else you may need to get better quality RAM

zervun - It must be your setup. I have had several machines that when overclocked to far, would fail after running Prime for several hours.

i agree

you probably set your settings to aggressive

back them down to stock and see if you can run threw a complete cycle

if you can then there is nothing wrong with the cpu physical
then just work it up from there.

another usefull trick i know is it logs all the errors by time in either prime.log or results.txt( i forget)

i run that with mbm5 and then compare the time of the falure to what was going on in the motherboard monitor some times it gives you a good clue if your overheating or something

if you have any more prime 95 questions feel free to pm me.

might be my setup, I think the chainwell 420watter is especially nice on the voltage stability and my room stays nice and cool. With the i845 good voltage, very good ram and good cooling I think I'm pretty stable, the times I have failed nearly always happens in the first 30 number crunches, after that it just goes on and on. Done 4 seperate doeses of prime95 for over 24 hours and no burps as of yet.

if you just got it recently it has a more relaxed error correction algorithm

with is good becuase you get a lot less false errors
but imo it may miss some of the acutall errors

side note have you used the benchmark feature yet

post your scors im make a kinda database
