Router Slowing Down DSL

We just bought a DI704p dlink router wiht a nifty little print server. It's set up and works fine. However, my page loads have seemed to slow down a good deal. When i run speed tests, they ALL come up as 680 kbps. And when i plug the modem back into my computer, the page loads speed up. I've tried changing my mtu and tcp recieve window to the recomended, but nothings working. what should i do? is this a problem w/ my router?

See if that router has an adjustable MTU.

as far as i know it doesnt. im going to try and upgrade its firmware

when you open browser.. does it say at lower left of browser "detecting proxy settings??" that may be whats slowing you down
If so you can manually configure in internet tools
