jsut got it, system shuts down once I run 3dmark, what could be the problem?

things to know- item is refurb from newegg, heatsink came loose, had to reapply, could it be overheating and reseting?

win2k, 3 ghz ht chip

I don't the problem myself with 3dmark, but I get the same symptoms if I overclock/over volt my cpu too far and run K7 burn. When it's realyl pushed the computer won't crash, freeze or even reboot, it'll just shutdown.

So maybe you're pushing your cpu too far. If not, then yeah, it maybe your power supply being too weak.

We need a little more info, System Specs, OC that kind of thing. If the heatsink came loose whilst the GPU was running it could of damaged it. Does this happen just with 3Dmark, i.e. can you play games on it fine?

I agree with what others have said it sounds like a PSU issue to be honest the high end video card requires a fair bit of power, and coupled with the fact that you have a 3Ghz chip you need to be running a decent PSU of about 400W or more.
