I have an Abit IC-7 Max3 motherboard with four WD Raptors in Raid 0. I would like to run Mandrake using an external drive via USB. I am thinking that this will allow me to use Linux without having to put any Linux data on my Raptor drives. I realize that I will have to change the first boot device in BIOS each time that I switch between booting on the internal and external drives. Will this work? Thanks for your help.

it should work fine, but you could even set up the external usb drive

so that it had a boot loader for linux and windows and wouldnt have to switch in your bios every time you wanted to switch
